Bahrain
is an archipelago of 33 islands, where the island of Bahrain is
the dominating one (90% of the total area). Other important
islands are Umm Al-Nisan, Al-Muharraq, Marquban, Jazirat Hawwar.
The elevate is low, with the highest peak of only 135 m on the
island Bahrain, and most of the country is only rocky desert.
Average summer temperatures are 34؛C, average during winter
is 17؛C. Annual rainfall is below 80 mm, but the humidity is
between 70% and 80%.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
of Bahrain is 4,536 million dollars. Bahrain is a major financial
center in the Gulf region . A number of international banks have
operations there. Modern technology financed by oil revenues has
made the emirate greener. The main exports of Bahrain are
petroleum products and aluminum. Food stuff and consumer goods are
the main imports. Vegetables and dates are also grown. Dairy and
poultry products are also the major activities. The government is
fully committed to a policy of industrial diversification. Recent
years have seen an increase in small scale industrial development
as well as the establishment of service industries.
Visitors require entry visas,
except for GCC Nationals And British Citizens born in the UK. 72
hours or 7 day visas are available. Health regulations for yellow
fever vaccination certificate is required for all visitors
traveling from infected areas. Vaccinations are always available
at the airport.
Daily newspapers and magazines
are available both Arabic and English. Television and radio
broadcast also provide news and entertainment.
